Routine

Keeping to a routine.

A good sleep routine is not as simple as ‘clock watching’. Just because you put your baby to bed at the same time does not ensure a well regulated sleep pattern.  There are many ways to formulate a good sleep routine that is right for baby, Mummy and Daddy.  Babies love consistency and routine and it is well documented that they respond very well to a simple healthy routine, a little effort goes a long way.

The key is not to be anxious, babies are like detectors for stress if they feel you are stressed and anxious they will probably act accordingly, so…. Don’t be too worried if you miss your 6.30 sleep routine time as long as you follow your “put down” routine the baby won’t notice and neither will you.  I find the more pleasant and stress free the routine the better the results. Our routine starts with a bath for about 15 minutes, after that we get them dressed and put them both on one bed and read a story (a short one) during the story they are offered a milk or water and then bed!Its short, simple and stress free and it works a treat.

And one last thing … Be patient it will happen for you, maybe not after day one or two but it will happen!  Share your tips ….
